When a laptop computers cooling system is not able to perform its job the graphics chip can overheat creating bad solder contacts causing failure. Unless its a very expensive PC its usually not economical to repair. Sure there are tricks to try and reflow the graphics chip solder contacts but these are usually unsucessfull or short lived.
The only lasting permanent repair is to remove the chip and either refit or replace renewing the solder balls in the process. Reballing is a specialized and expensive process.
The best solution is to prevent overheating to start with by not blocking the laptops airflow and regular servicing. Below is an example of a machine that has not been serviced for a few years. The dust build up in front of the cooling fins prevents clear air flow thus causing overheating.

Never use your laptop while its sitting on a soft surface like bedding, pillows, clothing etc. Doing so will block the ventilation it requires to cool properly. Always use on a hard surface or if on your lap be sure your not blocking the vents. Special solid top tables are available for you lap and some also have inbuilt cooling fans.
If your laptop seems to be getting very hot or shutting down under heavy load dont hesitate to get it serviced.
